Literacy at 186X
P186X Definition of Literacy (Aligned to S.A.I.L.)
At P186X, we believe literacy is a fundamental right and a lifelong tool for growth. Literacy empowers students to communicate with confidence, understand themselves and others, and navigate the world with independence and purpose. Through reading, writing, speaking, and listening, our learners build the skills needed to think critically, lead with empathy, and become active, informed members of their communities.
Rooted in our S.A.I.L. values, literacy at P186X means:
- Safety in learning environments where all voices are heard and respected.
- Acceptance through texts that reflect diverse identities, stories, and experiences.
- Independence in developing the skills to read and think with purpose, passion, and persistence.
- Leadership by using literacy to advocate for oneself and others, and to make meaningful contributions to society.
LITERACY VISION
